Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC): European funding line for the transition towards more sustainability

With a total of at least two billion euros, the public-private partnership "Circular Bio-based Europe" (CBE Joint Undertaking) will continue to promote the implementation of the bioeconomy in Europe. BIOPRO is a full member of BIC and currently represents nine Baden-Württemberg companies. BIOPRO is ready to represent more SMEs from Baden-Württemberg in this consortium.

CBE is part of the European Commission's Horizon Europe programme (2021-2027) and provides €1 billion in EU funding in addition to private-sector funding of at least €1 billion to enable the transition to a petrol-free era. The goal is not only to replace petrol, but also to establish a society and an economy that focuses on the sustainable use of resources while protecting the environment. The initiative, which brings together partners from a broad range of different industry sectors, covers the entire value creation chain with the aim of connecting previously unconnected sectors.

The Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) is an organisation that has already brought together approximately 450 small- and medium-sized companies, clusters and R&D organisations in Europe.

BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg GmbH is a full member of BIC with the right to vote, thereby giving the small- and medium-sized companies (SME) it represents the full benefits of CBE. BIOPRO currently represents nine German companies (BARK CLOTH_europe, Chemie-Technik GmbH, FOUR MOTORS GmbH, Insilico Biotechnology AG, k-labor GmbH, Novis GmbH, spek DESIGN GbR, Subitec GmbH and TECNARO GmbH).

How to join BIC

Full membership of Bio-based Industries Consortium is possible through BIC membership or companies can opt for representation through BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg.

BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg is interested in representing several more small- and medium-sized companies from Baden-Württemberg. If you are interested in joining BBI through BIOPRO and if your SME complies with the definition set out by the European Commission, please do not hesitate to contact us.
