Change at the top of BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg

For 22 years, Prof. Dr. Ralf Kindervater has been the Managing Director of BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg, the state agency that provides expertise to politics and state institutions in the fields of the healthcare industry, biotechnology, medical technology and the pharmaceutical industry. On January 1, 2025, he will hand over the reins to Dr. Barbara Jonischkeit and Dr. Claudia Luther.

The HACK-IT-NET (“Health And Care Knowledge and Innovation Transfer NETwork”) project aims to provide holistic and seamless healthcare for all patients in the Alpine region. The project, which was launched in July 2024 and will run for three years, aims to bring together stakeholders in the healthcare sector to create a forward-looking healthcare ecosystem in the Alpine region. BIOPRO is a partner.

Customised healthcare for all: BIOPRO is a partner in the EU project PRECISEU

The EU research project PRECISEU, which started in June 2024 and will run for five years, aims to connect innovation ecosystems across Europe and advance personalised medicine throughout Europe. BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg is one of 25 partner organisations from 11 European countries that are working on the further development of customised healthcare as part of the research project.

Strengthening the healthcare sector in the state: BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg networks itself strategically at a European level

BIOPRO has been supporting Baden-Württemberg as a healthcare location for many years and provides important incentives for its further development.  The state company has been a member of the Council of European Bioregions (CEBR) network since April 2024. Within the CEBR, BIOPRO aims to network with European cooperation partners in order to provide even better support for the innovative capacity of the healthcare industry in Baden-Württemberg.

GoDanuBio’s contribution to the bioeconomisation of the Danube Region

GoDanuBio supported the set-up of policy frameworks and participative governance schemes in the participating regions. The main topics were circular bioeconomy, sustainable rural development and rural-urban interactions.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has awarded the 2023 Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize to Prof. Achim Menges, head of the Institute for Computational Design and Construction at the University of Stuttgart. The award, which is endowed with EUR 2.5 million, is considered by many the most important research prize in Germany.

Five European pilot regions are joining forces for the bioeconomy

BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg participates in the Horizon Europe ROBIN project to improve the participation of regional bioeconomy strategies and related policies across Europe.

What will the energy systems of the future look like? What technical foundations do we need, and how can the upcoming transformation be shaped in such a way that we involve all actors in society? Answers to such questions are to be provided by four research projects funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation (CZS) as part of the “CZS Breakthroughs – Energy Systems of the Future” program. One of these is based at the University of Stuttgart.

Remaining mobile and producing without overtaxing the earth’s natural regenerative capacity: That’s the aim of the Innovation Campus “Mobility of the Future” (ICM) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the University of Stuttgart. Here, in about 60 research projects and 40 research institutes, almost 300 scientists are working on electric motors without rare earths, novel manufacturing technologies, and self-learning software systems…

The Carl Zeiss Foundation is funding the "DELIVER - Data-driven Engineering of Sustainable Living Materials" project at the University of Freiburg in its "CZS Wildcard" program. In the project, scientists from the Freiburg Clusters of Excellence CIBSS and livMatS will develop sustainable wood-based materials whose properties can be precisely controlled.
