Industrial healthcare industry in Baden-Württemberg: gross value added of more than 19 billion euros

The industrial healthcare sector (iGW) plays a central role in the economy in Baden-Württemberg. In 2021, the sector generated a direct gross value added of 19.6 billion euros, which corresponds to around a third (32.6%) of the entire regional healthcare industry. Customised healthcare for all: BIOPRO is a partner in the EU project PRECISEU

The EU research project PRECISEU, which started in June 2024 and will run for five years, aims to connect innovation ecosystems across Europe and advance personalised medicine throughout Europe. BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg is one of 25 partner organisations from 11 European countries that are working on the further development of customised healthcare as part of the research project.

Strengthening the healthcare sector in the state: BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg networks itself strategically at a European level

BIOPRO has been supporting Baden-Württemberg as a healthcare location for many years and provides important incentives for its further development.  The state company has been a member of the Council of European Bioregions (CEBR) network since April 2024. Within the CEBR, BIOPRO aims to network with European cooperation partners in order to provide even better support for the innovative capacity of the healthcare industry in Baden-Württemberg.

Five European pilot regions are joining forces for the bioeconomy

BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg participates in the Horizon Europe ROBIN project to improve the participation of regional bioeconomy strategies and related policies across Europe.

Mobil bleiben und produzieren, ohne die natürliche Regenerationsfähigkeit der Erde zu überfordern, das ist der Anspruch des InnovationsCampus Mobilität der Zukunft (ICM) am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie und der Universität Stuttgart. Fast 300 Forschende in gut 60 Forschungsprojekten und 40 -instituten arbeiten hier an Elektromotoren ohne Seltene Erden, neuartigen Fertigungstechnologien und selbstlernenden Software-Systemen für Fahrzeuge.

Across the EU, more than 300 billion items of packaging are not recycled every year because they consist of a mixture of different materials. Monomaterial packaging on the other hand is easy to recycle. However, it needs to be coated with ultra-thin barrier layers to protect delicate products just as well as compound materials do.

Concluding conference of the ARDIA-Net Interreg project

On May 11, the concluding conference of the ARDIA-Net Interreg project took place with 18 in-person attendees in Milan and 18 online participants.
