The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts is supporting the establishment of a telemedicine coordination office in Baden-Württemberg with funds totalling 600,000 euros (“Central Innovative Telemedicine-assisted Healthcare Network in Baden-Württemberg”). The coordination office will be run by Prof. Dr. Gerald Weisser. BIOPRO is a partner of the Telemedicine Baden-Württemberg network.
The coordinating office will pool telemedicine skills in Baden-Württemberg and act as the point of contact for anyone planning a project in the field of telemedicine or looking for partners for telemedicine projects. A comprehensive database will be set up to collect information on the projects and skills of everyone involved in telemedicine in Baden-Württemberg. As a central point of contact, the coordination office will become an excellent platform for bringing together users and suppliers, IT service providers and medical device manufacturers. With regard to the sustainability of telemedicine projects, i.e. their assimilation as standard treatment, the project will also deal with the financing of telemedicine applications once funding has come to an end and enable an active exchange of ideas and information with funding agencies (e.g. insurance companies).
Detailed information about the Baden-Württemberg Telemedicine Coordination Office is available at www.telemedbw.de. With the assistance of BIOPRO Baden- Württemberg, this website provides information about the various telemedicine projects in Baden-Württemberg. Regular events based on core telemedicine themes complement the (future) services of the coordination office.
The coordination office is located at the Institute of Medical Technology (IMT), which is jointly run by the Heidelberg University Faculty of Medicine in Mannheim and Mannheim University of Applied Sciences. In addition to BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg, the city of Mannheim is also a partner in the project.
