BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg GmbH – member of the “Bio-based Industries Consortium“

BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg gives small- and medium-sized companies the opportunity to benefit from the public-private partnership “Bio-based Industries”. Five German companies have already commissioned BIOPRO to represent their interests in the “Bio-based Industries Consortium”.

The Bio-based Industries (BBI) initiative (formerly BRIDGE: “Biobased and Renewables Industries for Development and Growth in Europe”) is a European initiative aimed at facilitating the transition from a fossil- to a biobased economy with funding totalling approximately four billion euros. The European Commission’s Horizon 2020 (2014 – 2020), the EU's new Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, contributes nearly one 1 billion euros and the initiative’s industrial partners will commit 2.8 billion euros for securing Europe’s transition into an oil-free era. The goal is not only to replace oil, but also to establish a society and an economy that focus on the sustainable use of resources at the same time as leading to greener and more environmentally friendly growth.

The initiative brings together partners from a broad range of different sectors (e.g. agriculture, biotech, forestry, pulp and paper, chemicals, energy) and covers the entire value creation chain with the aim of connecting previously unconnected sectors.

The industrial partners come under the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC), which to date has brought together more than 60 European small- and medium-sized companies, clusters and organisations, including BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg GmbH. BIOPRO is an ordinary member of BIB with the right to vote, thereby giving the small- and medium-sized companies it represents the full benefits of BBI. BIOPRO currently represents five Germany companies (BARK CLOTH_europe, Chemie-Technik GmbH, spek DESIGN GbR, TECNARO GmbH, k-labor GmbH), and is evaluating the representation of four more SMEs.

How to join BBI

Membership of BBI is open to industrial and commercial companies that are active in the field of biobased industries. Full membership in BBI can be applied for directly or companies can opt for representation through BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg.

BIOPRO Baden-Württemberg GmbH is interested in representing several more small- and medium-sized companies in Germany. Our full voting rights enable us to represent your interests and we will keep you informed about interesting project scenarios and possible participation in projects prior to and following meetings.

If you are interested in joining BBI through BIOPRO and if your SME complies with the definition set out by the European Commission, please contact Marina Boose (boose(at)bio-pro.de) who is in charge of BBI issues at BIOPRO.
